Farewell old friend

It's farewell to Mlox as LOOT comes in to take its place. Collaborators needed!!

From the horse's mouth;

"Hey everyone. With the help of the LOOT team, Morrowind is now (partially) supported by LOOT!

You can find the latest download here: https://bintray.com/loot/snapshots/loot# on Bintray.

To download, just select the first version that doesn't end in _dev. (As of today, it's 0.14.3-20-g2aada92_morrowind-support).

Then click files and download the compressed archive of choice.

WE NEED PEOPLE TO HELP OUT WITH THE MASTERLIST!
(It's starting from scratch so it won't do a ton to start with)

Mlox, while nice, is now seriously out-of-date on its masterlist and is a dead project. It also doesn't allow you to easily make groups, "load after" rules, or otherwise.

So, we need everyone to hop on and make LOOT's masterlist fantastic.

You can contribute to the masterlist HERE: https://github.com/loot/morrowind/issues
(There's also a contributing.md document to help you)

You can also just generally help by following the instructions here:

Github - LOOT

and providing a debug printout for them.

Any contribution is greatly appreciated! Let's get Morrowind's load orders sorted!

Please lend your support to this project!!!

Gwen

Yeah I know, I already apologise for the Terminator font :D

Totally and completely up to my eyeballs with Gwen. I've made my own noose for my neck and have now realised her full potential.

The possibilities are endless with LUA coding and even though she is now fully complete and playable I feel the need to add more to her personality and AI capabilities.

Here's a quick video of her being aware of her surroundings;

That's it for today! Adding more dialogue...

Another one...

Trance again came up with a groovy idea to make the guards annoy you if you entered a sneak mode in the town. Thinking about it, it made perfect sense. If someone saw you sneaking around in the middle of town they would pay closer attention to you so here it is.

I can't be blamed for any dumb animation flaws so don't bother telling me about them. Write to Bethesda, not me. All Hail Todd!

Inquisite Guards can be found on Nexus here.

What else...

Oh yeah, if you're Polish or Portuguese you can find translations for the Dark Brotherhood Delay mod on its Nexus page thanks to Mateusz and the wife.

Gwen

After being mugged by messers Greatness7, Merlord and Null I've now been convinced that Gwen needs MWSE and thus it is. MWSE is now a requirement for her but it has added some interesting AI possibilities that I've never seen before.

Still on target to have a download of her ready for sometime in May.

If you want to know more about Gwen then scroll down to the last post.

Time for the daughter and grandson to come very shortly so I'm sodding off :D

April Mod

Evidently, Melchior Dahrk tells me that releasing mods the month before Moddathon is illegal and I should be hoarding them...Melchior the Squirrel is his new name.

Needless to say, I released one anyway.

Yup, you guessed it. It delays the Dark Brotherhood quest with a twist. The player gets to select from a menu when they will start attacking you.

You can find it here; Player's Choice - Dark Brotherhood Delay

This mod aside for a minute...

Gwen is coming along nicely and hopefully will be ready for the Moddathon even though that mod doesn't even have a name yet. She should really get her own post but I couldn't resist putting that header at the top of the page.

Here are a few things she can do so far and her built-in quest line;

Gwen - Companion/ Bitch

Levelling

Level up when the player does. And when I say level up I mean she levels up only certain skills as some skills are levelled separately by doing stuff related to them.

Most of her actions depend on the player and if she likes you enough to do them. This goes from being able to tell her to use melee/ ranged weapons all the way to sex.

Basically, if she doesn't like you enough she will tell you to piss off.

Making potions.

She can learn to make certain potions, she starts by knowing how to make health potions but can learn to make others if she has the right way to learn. She will hint on what she needs to learn if you ask her about them.

If she has spare potions the player can ask for them and she will give them to you. If not...tough luck.

Her alchemy skill uses the same mechanics as the player so the more she makes the better her alchemy will become. The amount and quality of the potions will increase accordingly.

She will tell you what ingredients she needs depending on the potion you want her to make and she will only accept the ingredients in lots of 10's.

In Combat

When you first meet Gwen she's a bitch and doesn't really want to be your companion. If you ask her to change her ways in combat before she likes you she will just take offence at you telling her what to do. When she likes you enough she will allow it. You can only choose melee or ranged or leave it up to her to decide. I found it dumb as a bag of rocks deciding exactly what she does and uses because that's not a companion if she has no say in it herself.

Heal the Player

Gwen can learn to heal someone else but it will cost you. When the topic comes up she will hint on how she can learn the spell and then it's up to you to decide if she does or not.

After learning the spell she may offer to heal the player when she can but this will again depend if she likes you or not. The topic will vanish after learning the spell if she doesn't like you enough to use it on you and return when she does.

Cure Disease

Gwen can learn this spell by doing the seven graces with you. She learns this from the mask of Vivec in Gnisis. Again...if she likes you she will offer to cure you when you catch a common disease. If she doesn't then you can just go and whistle.

Blessings

If you speak to her in some temples she might just decide to tell you she's going to get a blessing, this will cost the player the normal amount and both of you receive the blessing.

Guilds

Gwen will join guilds when you do and may or may not offer advice or just comments on certain quests depending if she feels like it or not. Some quest (codebook especially) she will offer to do for you.

Spell Purchase

She will buy spells she wants from time to time, the trigger is her level in a certain spell school and her location. Example. Conjuration > 15, in Mages Guild, buy Bound Blade.

Friend Zone System

As I said above. When you meet her she dislikes you quite a lot and hates the fact she has to team with you but, over time and depending on your chats and things you do for her she will grow to like you (or dislike you more). There are 5 states of friendliness and you start at State 1. The hate zone.

You can work your way up the zones and also fall back down through them if you're not careful.

Her random dialogue may produce questions that you must answer that will ultimately decide if you should be liked her not. Just like real people, if you disagree on a subject that is dear to them they won't like you as much as they would if you agreed. Same goes for Gwen.

Gwen is also a woman so she can be mental even when you think you know her :D (Sorry wife).

Likes and Dislikes

So far I've decided that Gwen likes booze. She also likes sex and if it existed she would probably like rock n roll as well. She can't stand rats (Thanks Indie) and will tell you so whenever she meets one. She also doesn't like the Telvanni or Imperials. I may add more to this list...

Bathing

Gwen doesn't like playing the entire game dirty. Not in the sense of sweaty and horrible anyway, the other dirty she loves. At a certain friend level, she won't mind getting her kit off and taking a skinny dip (she will tell you where) in front of you and even asking you to join her if she likes you enough and things are going well. She may also...erm "shag" you if you've really impressed her.

She is set to want to bathe once every 5 days but she won't go on and on about it if she doesn't.
Indeed, if she doesn't like you enough she won't even mention it.

Pubs

There are several situations where she will ask for a drink and you will be treated to her back story (this will only happen once) or another chat (again only once). This may result in your friend zone becoming higher or lower depending on your reaction.

If you get a bed in a pub and she likes you enough she may just "shag" you when you use the bed to sleep. You will have to speak to her first though and she will have something flippant to say of course if you have hired a room.

Quests

She does have some small side quests that may or may not come up (random dialogue starts these). I kept these random so that you can't play her the same way twice and so not everything she does is just a list of scripts.

So far her main quest is a murder mystery. (Not finished at the time of writing this) It will involve a "Skyrim" like quest starter using a courier that delivers you a message (you have to be at max friend level for this to happen) that starts the quest line.

You have to hunt down the murderer of her friend and bring them to justice. (takes longer than you think)

Touch wood everything works 100% so far but I'm still adding to it. I've tried to use NPC's that have no reason to be in the game, such as Hul in Balmora, to give them a purpose and a back story rather than just plop down new NPC's.

I've added very little in the form of new items with the exception of Gwen's face and hair models and her favourite dress.

As always, any suggestions are welcome...

Now here are some videos of her doing stuff;

Fun to write so far. Off to write some more :D

I've neglected Morrowind once again! The neck went wonky and I couldn't sit here wasting my life but...I did get a chance to finish ...
