Modelling for Morrowind

Getting shit started with Wings.

I am constantly asked why I don't use Blender to make my models for Morrowind and other games and it is simply a matter of choice. I don't like Blender and it doesn't like me.

I hate the user interface and it's cumbersome ways and although Greatness7 keeps telling me I can change everything to how I like it to be I'm simply too old and long in the tooth to listen to him. (Sorry mate).

I am a big believer in free software and there are some great authors out there to behold but, alas, I use Maya, because it's simply the best. Sorry Blunder. No contest.

On the other hand I also use Wings 3D. You can't beat it really for ease of use and damn right simplicity. Fuck the rest, Wings is the best.

Unfortunately the main drawback with Wings is the fact that none of these great authors have bothered to write a nif exporter and that is an issue when you want to model for Morrowind/ Oblivion/ Skyrim/ Fallout etc.

There is a way around this of course and that way is the way I will be showing you if you care to stick with me throughout (what is going to be) this fucking big wall of text.

For now, I am going to assume you have zero or very little modelling experience in any program and you need to know how to get your shit off the ground.

The following should work for Morrowind, Skyrim and the Fallout series. (For that matter wherever the nif format is used)

3. Part III: UV Mapping our table
4. Part IV: Creating a Hull mesh

Making it work in game

After making your model and exporting it as Collada you will need to get the thing into the game. To do this we are going to need to follow these next, very simple, very quick steps.

1. Adding a collision (hull) mesh using Blender

2. Adding a missing texture property in NifSkope
3. Adding No Collision to a mesh in Nifskope

Other stuff you might want to know

1. Adding a glow map - NifSkope

2. Adding an alpha property - NifSkope

3. Atlas Mapping your models

4. Adding Collision meshes to existing models

5. Adding a new model to the construction set

  1. Rubberman, I need your aid my fellow morrowinder, I've followed your tutorials and I pretty much learned a lot from it, but I've stumbled on a big issue...nifskope new version, I just can't seem to apply textures on it, and the tutorials on their website is from a version which isn't much similar to the new one, so I ask you, which version of nifskope did you used on this tutorial?
