Adding a glow map in Nifskope

This really is easy. Much easier than actually making the glow map itself.

Basically a glow map is your texture with everything in black apart from the bits you want to glow (which are usually in shades of grey).

I find sometimes a glow map can be as simple as changing your texture to grey scale then toning down the brightness until you get what you want.

So let's add one.

First prepare your textures. You want your texture and the glow map. Name them something sensible like

MyTexture.dds and MyTexture_G.dds

Now open up your nif in Nifskope

For this little example I'm just going to use something I'm currently working on and the glow map I'm going to add isn't the best in the universe.

To add the map find the texture you want to glow. In my case the windows.

Right click it's NiTexturingProperty, Texture, then Add Glow Map as above.

Nifskope will then open up a directory box and ask you for the texture. Just find your glow map texture and add it.

There you have it. A glow mapped nif. (This is a super shit glow map I'm using but with a little effort you can make some great effects).
